Growing up in a small city surrounded by cornfields in western Ohio, Sam spent her childhood in choir and orchestra during school and playing outside or playing video games with siblings and cousins during summers and weekends. It was this childhood filled with mulberry-stained feet, wide-open Midwestern skies, jRPGs, and musical fellowship that sent her on a winding path to composing.

In her spare time, Sam enjoys reading (mostly sci-fi and fantasy), puttering around in her native plant garden, playing video games, and spending time with her family.

Sam and her husband, Austin, have been married since 2009 and have two beautiful children who bring light and joy to everything they touch.

As a composer, Sam’s interests are varied and she writes for mixed ensembles, choir, and orchestra, as well as for indie games and content creators.
